The Catalinas Islands are located across the coast of Playa Potrero and are known among divers as a sanctuary of wildlife for sea birds, for which they are a favorite destination for bird watchers. From the end of March until September, is the time in which the birds nest there.
Surrounding the islands is an excellent place to practice scuba diving, and often you could find groups of manta rays, including the giant manta rays.
